iPhone is getting harder to compete with Chinese phones
Currently, vendors from China are dominating the five major markets in the global smartphone world. As recent reports from Counterpoint ResearchChina managed to ship a quarter of global smartphones worldwide.
This value has actually decreased by 9 percent from year to year (YoY). Apart from China, South Korea with Samsung products is also getting stronger as the first in the global smartphone market. This makes the iPhone worse because of a decline in shipments.
Counterpoint Research said that although the iPhone was in third place, revenue fell 11 percent. But according to Apple CEO Tim Cook, iPhone sales have actually increased.
iPhone continues to be urged by Chinese phones
On all sides, Apple is getting pressured by Chinese phones and Samsung is getting more aggressive. As previously reported, Samsung is still the king of global smartphones with a market share of 21.3 percent, up from 19.6 percent in the same period last year.
In the second position is occupied by Huawei which increased slightly from 14.9 percent to 15.8 percent. This is very interesting, considering that last May the US government had terminated Huawei’s business relationship with the US. They even threaten that Android operations on Huawei smartphones are no longer available.
The impact of the blocking was not felt at all for them for shipments during this quarter. It means that there will be no declines and problems going forward, that’s how it is Counterpoint Research Associate DirectorTarun Pathak.

According to him, this time Huawei prioritized penetration into China and the results were good enough to cover the decline in shipments in foreign markets.
After Apple, there is Xiaomi, which is also a smartphone vendor from China, which is fourth in the world, with a market share of 9 percent, where previously it was 8.8 percent. The cover of the top five smartphone markets is still with vendors from China, namely Vivo, which grew slightly from 7.3 to 7.5 percent.
But overall, Counterpoint Research said smartphone shipments are currently experiencing a decline. The decline in the smartphone market occurred because China’s market continued to decline over the last two years.
In addition, the unresolved trade war between China and the US has also affected the decline in global smartphone market share. If indeed China dominates as a producer, Counterpoint Research noted India is the sexiest country in the smartphone line this period.
In the quarter of this year, smartphone shipments to India reached 37 million units and became a key market. It is predicted that the advancement of the 5G network will bring back the passion of smartphones in the future.
