Do we need to disable the comments column on our website?
Especially for WordPress-based website owners, is it necessary to turn off or disable the comments column on our website? In this article I want to share a little opinion about this. On one of my personal blogs, the comments column is currently active as usual, in the hope that someone will provide positive feedback regarding the articles I wrote.
However, on the other hand, it turns out that the comments column on my blog has actually become a “spam” pool for spammers to make strange comments and provide promotional links to content that violates policy.
Yes, even though these comments do not immediately appear publicly, as a web admin you certainly feel uncomfortable because they do not meet your expectations of getting positive feedback from readers. In fact, you get spam comments from bots.
Here we can see, per day I get at least 100 spam comments on my website:
It’s just annoying every day having to deal with spam comments. Due to this incident, maybe I will temporarily deactivate the comments column to avoid spam bots.
