It's Official, DC Studios Dethrones Henry Cavill As Superman!

Bad news is back for Superman and DC Universe fans. The reason is, a while ago, the actor who played Clark Kent, Henry Cavill, announced that he was no longer part of Warner Bros. and DC Films. Cavill explained that he would no longer play Superman under the leadership of Peter Safran and also James Gunn.

This news itself first appeared through uploads on Henry Cavill’s personal Instagram account. In the upload containing the text, Cavill wrote his apology to the fans because he will no longer play Superman in films produced by DC and WB in the future. The decision came after he held meetings with the two new leaders of Warner Brothers, James Gunn and Peter Safran. Even so, Cavill still wishes the best for the Superman character and the universe built by Gunn and Safran. The following is the content of Henry Cavill’s upload on his Instagram:

I just finished a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and bad news, everyone. I am, in the end, no longer playing Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return last October, before they signed, this news is certainly not easy, but that’s life. Big change is something that happens often. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe they need to build. I wish both of them and everyone involved in the new universe the best.

To everyone who has supported me for a long time…. we may be a little sad, but we must remember…. Superman still exists. Everything he stood for is still there, and the examples of kindness he showed are still there. My time to wear the (Superman) cape is over, but what Superman has always fought for will never be finished. A pleasant journey and adventure with you.

This news clearly provoked mixed reactions among fans. However, many regretted this decision, especially since he had just “debuted” in Black Adam by playing the character Superman again. As geeks already know, Henry Cavill is back as Superman after a long hiatus. His character appears in a cameo at the end of the Black Adam film.

And as was widely given, Dwayne Johnson admits that it took him years to convince the production house to reconsider Henry Cavill’s role as Superman. And finally, they agreed and agreed to bring back the character of Superman. Last October, Cavill himself confirmed his return as Superman, which now feels hopeless.

Warner Bros. has indeed been the most unstable production house in the last decade, especially when it comes to the production of superhero-themed films. There have been countless controversies that have arisen, an example of which is the legal case against Ezra Miller who played Barry Allen. Not to mention, the controversy over how Ben Affleck was considered removed by them. Also, many film and series projects end up being canceled due to various reasons.

Now, with James Gunn and Peter Safran on board to improve the DC Universe, it’s certainly interesting to see what the future of DC will be like amidst the various decisions they’ve made to build the DC universe according to their vision.
