This Asteroid Contain More Gold Than Earth

An asteroid that is in between the orbits of the planets Mars and Jupiter is now getting the attention of many people because it contains large amounts of gold. The name of the asteroid is Psyche 16but to mine gold on this asteroid is not an easy matter to be taken carelessly.

The US space agency NASA is currently observing the Psyche 16. They even have plans to launch the Discovery Mission to be flown there and will be put into orbit in 2026.

As expected the precious metal in Psyche 16 has a price of up to USD 10 quadrillion. In large numbers it can make every citizen of Earth a billionaire.

But unfortunately to mine gold in Psyche 16 and bring it back to Earth is not an easy undertaking. Just imagine if the diameter of Psyche 16 reaches 200 kilometers.

According to the estimation of the President of the Royal Astronomical Society, John Zarnecki, it will take 25 years to prove the concept of mining, and another 50 years for commercialization, as Dafunda Tekno quoted from Big Think.

According to him, mining on these asteroids is where the moment if resources or the like on Earth have started to become scarce and the price is very high. But on the other hand there are also those who are skeptical about the assumption that Psyche 16 brings a lot of gold.

If it’s true that Psyche 16 contains a lot of gold and is successfully brought to Earth, of course the price of gold on Earth will experience crashes. Especially if later mining gold on asteroids becomes a common thing to do.

Eurosun Mining CEO Scott More and Scott More said that as senior miners, if the four to five million ounces of gold that had been sold each year on the market, it would be nothing compared to what is available in outer space.

But after all, if mining gold on asteroids is achievable then nothing can be prevented going forward. The current asteroid mining company already exists. One of them is The UK-based Asteroid Mining Corporation led by CEO Mitch Hunter-Scullion. And it is reported that employees are currently preparing to launch a satellite to take a closer look at the mineable asteroid.

Today the earth is a place of enormous resources. But of course the end is also limited due to several factors including increasing population numbers. And if mining is carried out to its peak, of course it will have an impact on higher prices, and can even damage the surrounding environment.

Maybe mining for minerals on asteroids is the solution for the future.
