Only Through Typing Voices, Hackers Can Know Passwords
Did you know that hackers can get passwords just by hearing typing on a computer keyboard or laptop? This fact was discovered through a recent study conducted by Southern Methodist University in Texas, United States.
By relying on a microphone on a smartphone, this method can work effectively, it can even be done in noisy crowds where several other people are also typing. Such are the findings that Dafunda Tekno quoted from: The Independent.
They managed to find a way to analyze the sound waves that can be produced when the keyboard is typed. While processing the acoustic signal, the researchers were able to decode to figure out which key was being typed.
It turns out that this is not only a way to crack passwords, but can also find out the contents of a person’s secret message or private email.
“From these findings, it is hoped that smartphones can ensure increased privacy security for people who have access to smartphone sensors,” said Erick Larson, an assistant professor at Southern Methodist University.
As we know, some applications on smartphones often require permission requests to access the microphone as part of the trems of service. So, of course this can be used for criminals to create applications that can trap smartphone users.
