Kirin 990 Chipset Will Support 4K 60fps Video Recording

With the presence of last year’s P20 and this year’s P30 Pro, Huawei was greeted with various compliments for its camera innovation. However, for video matters, the two Huawei flagship cameras are still considered unsatisfactory.

One reason is that it still uses the Kirin 970 and Kirin 980, which still don’t support 4K 60fps video. This feature is much coveted by users for a smartphone that has a camera-centric currently.

Huawei has also acknowledged this. At the Asia Pacific media meeting, precisely at the launch of the P30 Pro in March 2022, Vice President of Huawei CBG Smartphone Product Changzhu Li said Huawei may not be able to provide the best in everything, but they are willing to improve their camera capabilities.

Li’s statement at that time was a response to the question: will Huawei and Leica invest in developing video quality?

Mobile Record Video 4K 60fps

According to DxOMark test results, the Huawei P30 Pro with Kirin 980 chipset support gets a total score of 112. Where the photo capability is the highest at 119, while for video it is only 97.

But this does not seem to make the Chinese technology company give up. As Dafunda Tekno quoted from the Neowin site, Huawei gave news that the Kirin 990 will support the ability to record 4K 60fps video.

This capability will begin to be embedded in the Mate 30 series cellphone camera. Now for those of you lovers of Huawei phones, later you no longer need to have to choose a high resolution and frame rate.

The function of the 4K 60fps video format is actually very important, because almost every flagship that is Huawei’s competitor has provided this format. It can also create quality standards for video recordings that are much coveted by smartphone users, especially for content creators.

When it comes to phones with 4K cameras, Apple first offered this capability in 2022 with the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Then followed by Qualcomm, which introduced 4K 60fps video recording on the Snapdragon 845 and is embedded in almost all Samsung Galaxy S9 series phones. which was launched in 2022.
