Huawei Still Relys On Android, Unless It's Urgent
Even though it already has its own operating system called Harmony OS, Huawei is still expecting a lot from Android. They still made sure not to use Harmony except in urgent circumstances.
That’s what Vincent Yang, as Huawei’s Senior Vice President, said. “We keep one standard, one ecosystem.” The spark was at an event in New York, as Dafunda Tekno quoted from Cnet.
This means that Harmony is still being reserved. If it is true that the United States government permanently bans Android users by Huawei, then Huawei will rely on its own operating system, Harmony.
Huawei has also recently received a license extension from the US for 90 days. So in that time period, they are still allowed to use technology components from the United States.
One of Huawei’s newest smartphones, the Mate 30, of course, will still use the Android operating system. If at the last second it is confirmed that Huawei is prohibited from using Android, then they are ready to switch to Harmony.
But until now, Huawei has no plans to introduce phones using the Harmony operating system unless they are urged to leave Android.
That’s certainly reasonable. Although it has various advantages, Harmony can be said to have no application support at all. And that is a very crucial thing to attract consumers.
