Asteroid with the height of the Burj Khalifa will reach Earth

A giant asteroid that is estimated to be almost the same as one of the tallest buildings in the world today, Burj Khalifa will approach Earth in less than a month.

NASA said the asteroid was named 2000 QW7 which was fairly fat with a diameter of 290 to 650 meters. Only slightly shorter than the Burj Khalifa’s height of 828 meters.

As Dafunda Tekno quoted from Live Science, the asteroid is considered very large, twice as tall as the Empire State Building and will greet Earth on September 14.

The Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) said the 2000 QW7 was traveling at a speed of 23,100 kilometers per hour. But there is no need to worry, even though it is considered close to Earth, the asteroid’s distance from Earth is quite safe, which is about 5.3 million kilometers.

Similar to Earth, the asteroid orbits the Sun. The asteroid has only occasionally come close to the planet, most recently on September 1, 2000.

NASA and other space agencies have recently become more aware of observing asteroids. The reason is it is estimated that in the future there will be someone who will hit Earth as has happened in the past.

With so technology to defend asteroids began to be advanced. The US National Science and Technology Council has launched a draft National Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy and Action Plan. Useful to control the next 10 years in warding off the dangers of asteroids.
