There are several ways to secure unknown people from accessing the Zoom app. One of them is using the participation application, where participants have to wait for permission from the host. That way the teleconferencing program can be more selective in choosing who can participate in the session.

In addition to securing the Zoom application from uninvited people, you can see the following tips below.

Activate Waiting Room

  • After opening the Zoom app, click on the image icon in the upper right corner of the screen and then on Settings.
  • Once clicked there will be a new display. On the ‘General’ tab select ‘View More Settings’. Then you will be directed to the official Zoom website automatically.
  • Log in by ‘signing in’ to the Zoom application with your account.
  • Then hover your cursor down you will find an option to activate the ‘Waiting Room’ feature. Then activate the feature.
  • You can also put all participants in Waiting Woom by selecting ‘All participants’ or you can add only a few people by selecting ‘Guest participants only’.

But what you need to note is that this application only appears for paid account users. while for free accounts there will be no such feature.

How to Activate the Waiting Room During a Scheduled Meeting

If the ‘Waiting Room’ feature is active, then you can use this feature every time you make a video conference. After arranging the meeting schedule, then on the ‘Waiting Room’ page you can choose ‘Schedule a Meeting’ which is in the row of your profile photo.

On that page, you can also schedule a video conference meeting that you will hold later.

When finished, hover over the bottom and you will find the option ‘Enable Waiting Room’. Also make sure that the option is active and immediately schedule the meeting you want to make then end it by pressing the ‘Save’ button.

How to Activate Waiting Room During Private Meeting

In addition to the tips above, you can also activate this ‘Waiting Room’ for all your private meetings.

  • You do this by selecting the ‘Meetings’ option on the left of the screen.
  • Then select in ‘Personal Meeting Room’
  • Navigate to the bottom and find the ‘Edit this Meeting’ menu.
  • Then on the page select ‘Enable waiting room’ then save the settings by pressing the ‘Save’ button.

How to Control the Waiting Room

Hosts who want to organize video conferencing events can also set up a ‘Waiting Room’. You do this by selecting ‘Manage Participant’ when the host has started the video meeting.

Then in the ‘More’ option, select ‘Put attendance in Waiting Room on Entry’. With these settings, all selected participants will immediately enter the ‘Waiting Room’.
