Tips to keep others from breaking into your WiFi

Tips to keep others from breaking into your WiFi

Do you have a private WiFi network but the connection is slow because someone else is using it? Take it easy, because as the owner of the WiFi you naturally have the right to manage everything on the router, which makes it more secure and so that it is not easy to break in again.

The most common router currently in use is the type ZTE F609, it is usually given to Indihome customers. Although the router has proven to be secure and there are no loopholes like TP-LINK-ADSL in the past, but on the other hand there is still work to be done to make it even safer.

Knowing that there are many similar uses out there right now Free WiFi password cracker or sharer, so you need to keep the router so that other people do not enter it without permission.

Tips to prevent others from breaking into Wi-Fi so easily

Maintaining the router will maximize the connection you can get and you will never have any problems whether you are streaming or playing online games. And here I’m going to share a few ways you can keep your WiFi router secure so no one else dares break into your WiFi.

# 1 deactivate WPS functions (PIN and key)

Actually, there is nothing wrong with activating the function WLAN-protected installation or what is commonly abbreviated as WPS. Deactivating it, however, reduces the gap on the router to the set WPS PIN.

The WPS PIN itself is a way to connect to a WiFi network without using a password. So you only need to enter about 6 numbers listed in the router settings to start the connection.

Disabling the WPS feature is very easy, you just have to go to the router admin page. And if you are currently using ZTE F609, please go to the following menu:

network > WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS > WPS > (Disabled person)

Disable the WPS functions on the wireless router

After deactivation, the connection to a WiFi network can only be established using a password and there is no way to rewrite the WPS PIN.

# 2 change login information for admin page

All Indihome customers already have to know the access data on the router admin page? That is Users and users. In fact, this is very dangerous if you don’t change it considering there are many websites on the internet that share user and administrator credentials.

As a customer, you have the right to change your password user. Please change it with the desired password. And to make it easy on a ZTE F609 router, please go to the following menu:

administration > User administration

Change the credentials of the wireless router admin page to prevent break-ins

In this section you can now change the user password. Just change it to a password that is easy to remember but difficult to guess. And know that no forgetting password function on this router. So if you forget your user password, be sure to reset the router.

# 3 Change your password regularly

If you want your WiFi to stay secure and fast, change your password at least once a week or once a month. Since someone nearby could easily share the password with other people, it adds new devices that will connect later and affect the speed of the internet connection.

Changing the password / password on the ZTE F609 router can be done in several steps. And to find out how to do that, it was shared in an article titled Tutorial on How to Change WiFi Password on ZTE F609 Router.

# 4 Get in the habit of checking connected devices

If you know all of the connected devices, you can see who is using the Wi-Fi network by device type. This is what WiFi owners don’t usually do, which is very important to know when there are free WiFi users.

There are cell phone apps that make it easier for you to check who is connected to the current WiFi network. The application is called Who is using my WiFi? and can be downloaded for free from the Play Store.

That being said, there is also a more accurate way of doing the same thing, the only difference being that it can be done directly from the router. For more information, see the How to View the Online User List on the ZTE F609 Router article.

# 5 Mac address filter for unknown devices

This is the final tip and arguably the most powerful way to keep your WiFi connection safe from many intruders. Namely, by filtering the Mac addresses of devices that are connected without permission.

So find out in advance which devices are connected by following the tip number # 4 At. When you have found the device, please write it down MAC addresshis. Then open the router admin page and go to the following menu:

Network> WLAN> Access Control List

Filter devices to prevent renewed WiFi hacking

In the section MAC address, enter the device’s MAC address you noted earlier. And partly mode, please select as block. Then keep pressing the button Add and wait for the router to restart.

After restarting the router, the blocked device will never be able to reconnect to your WiFi network. And this is very effective because it drastically reduces the number of free WiFi users compared to changing passwords regularly.

These are just a few tips that I can share. Please also note that these tips are not meant to be stingy when sharing a WiFi network, but those who choose to secure their WiFi connection must have reasons of their own. One of them is Get the connection speed accordingly for everyday use.

Hopefully useful and good luck
