How to overcome photos that are not showing in the gallery
The gallery on Android phones can be used to store two types of media including photos and videos. All content in the gallery is retrieved from the internal and external storage, everything is combined into one. Everyone needs to have a photo on their phone and the photo will definitely show up in the gallery even if it’s in any folder unless the folder is hidden. This of course affects the system indexing process resulting in the inability to browse the folder and jump to another folder.
Not a lot of people experience content in the gallery not showing up, and that’s just not caused by accidentally hidden or hidden folders, but that usually has something to do with rooted Android phones. Literally a rooted phone will open up an entire system that can be changed by the user, and a small change will definitely affect the phone and lead to a soft brick. However, if this concerns the content in the gallery that is not showing, it means that there is actually a problem with some things and this is related to the system.
Most people will worry if their phone doesn’t work the way it should. One way to overcome this is to do a factory reset where all of the data and phone settings are like they were on a new phone. but at the moment Users no longer have to worry if the problem is only with the content that is not showing up in the gallery and some of the things I meant earlier, one of which I mentioned is a hidden folder, then there are files that make the indexing process fail and the wrong thing is disabled by advanced users to understand how to hack Cell phones, namely, disabling media scanning.
In fact, there are applications that can help with this and this application can be used for phones that have not been rooted so it is very safe to use. You no longer have to worry about content not showing up as this app works just fine like I tried and even though the phone is rooted it never asks for root permission. The name of this app is Media Re.Scan. At this point, I will not be giving a review of the scanner application and I am more concerned with a complete handling of photos or videos that do not appear in the gallery. Check out a few options below.
- Check hidden files / folders – Users can search for all hidden files and folders using applications like ES File Manager or X-Plore. If the content file is hidden, it means the user will simply change the permissions or the chmod of the file to 644 and if the folder that contains all the contents is hidden then set the chmod to 755.
- Delete the file named .nomedia – The file that causes the system to fail the indexing process because the system sticks to the .nomedia format file which is unable to index the entire folder via media storage. If you delete it, the index process will return to normal with no exceptions.
- Activate .MediaScannerService – Usually this happens to users who use apps to enable wakelock like Amplify. Please turn it off for “com.android.providers.media/.MediaScannerService” and then restart the phone.
- Using the Re.Scan Media App – The last option is to use this little application to tell the system to scan all of memory so that the user can simply open the application and choose what content they want to scan e.g. Start Mediascan ”and wait until the loading process is finished.
Only 4 ways can solve the content not showing in gallery and I prefer to use the method from above when phone has been rooted very rarely for a mobile phone that has not been rooted in gallery will not show up . It usually takes a few seconds after a piece of content has been opened, e.g.
Users can search for the Re.Scan media application in the Play Store. The application is small and free. A simple internal display makes it easy for users to operate. And for the third part, it may not need to be explained as users who have operated a rooted phone a lot will definitely understand how to enable or disable the service process because when the process is disabled, media storage or media storage cannot be used at all Scan content including music and others. In fact, there are many other gallery apps out there that have the best of features and don’t need to do a scan, but still Although the gallery application is very simple on the system, it is much more meaningful than the others.
