If you are a street vendor majoring in TKJ, what are you doing?

In the 2025/2025 academic year, I graduated from Vocational School majoring in Computer and Network Engineering or often called TKJ.

Of course, in the 2nd grade of vocational school there is something called field work practice or PKL, also known as an internship. Here I want to tell you about my experience about PKL when I was in vocational school, so for friends majoring in TKJ who want to do PKL, it will give you an idea.

Actually, what do the TKJ PKL students do? Is it really difficult or not for them to do PKL?

Experience of PKL in the TKJ Department at the previous vocational school

At that time, at my school, the children in class 2, semester 1, were already being told to look for internships or street vendors. We ourselves will first look for a place or agency that accepts street vendors by the school,

But if you want to look for it yourself, that’s fine too.

Well, long story short, I got a PKL place at a Fiber Optic Company, which is called PT. CGS, more or less every day he works, installs fiber optics, troubleshoots networks and the like.

First impression of street vendors

Well, the first impression when I entered the office was that I was a bit embarrassed, because I didn’t know anything, but after walking for a few days the atmosphere was normal. It’s no longer awkward, plus in the beginning the street vendor children will be taught basic material about the work there.

For example, regarding Fiber optics from the basics, how to use it, the tools used, and the installation process.

All of this is taught by the company, just like in school, first we will learn first, once we feel we can do it, the company will invite us to go into the field to learn further.

Well, every day was like that for 6 months, (of course there were holidays and pocket money, hihihi).

Make a PKL Report

Every time you finish doing PKL, students will definitely be asked to make a report during PKL. To avoid difficulties, it’s a good idea to record your work or what you do every day.

Because this can be used as a report, for example studying material A, so just record today’s study of material A, and so on.

Go Home Following Office Hours

Yes, whether we are going home or on holiday, we will follow the office schedule, for example if we work 5 days, we will join in for 5 working days. Likewise, the hours for entering the office and returning home are all the same, even though we are street vendors.

But maybe in some PKL places other TKJ majors will be different, it just depends on company policy. This one just happened to get the PT one, so it has to be professional.

Helping Senior Office Work

So in the office we are considered professionals, so if there is work we have to be able to complete it, at least we can make reports, print, or help with light work from seniors or office people.

All Our Activities and Attitudes Are Valued

Yep… Everything will be assessed and will be placed on the street vendor certificate, so try to be kind and friendly anytime, anywhere.

This will be a plus point when getting a street vendor certificate later.

Closing

Yes, the point is that being a PKL is really fun, you have a lot of experience, because you often accompany your seniors out in the field, you can go around the city, you can make new friends, you can learn how to negotiate with clients and the like.
