How to Search for Jobs on Google Maps
Looking for work is indeed an activity that can be very tiring, although it is not like in the past where job seekers had to look for job vacancy information from magazines, newspapers, and even had to come directly to the company office.
However, nowadays looking for work is very easy, especially with GPS technology, we can find out which companies around us are opening job vacancies, one way is to use Google Maps.
How to Search for Jobs on Google Maps
Here’s how to get a job via the Google Maps application:
What is Google Maps?
Google Maps is an online map application that can be accessed for free via mobile devices or web browsers. This application is generally used to get directions to a location.
However, did you know that via Google Maps we can look for jobs near our own location. These tips are purely from my own experience when looking for work on social media but never getting it. Thanks to this application I can chat with business/shop owners directly.
How to?
There are 2 ways you can look for work via Google Maps with the requirement to have an internet quota so you can access locations, exercise patience and perseverance to find a company that suits you.
First Way
- First determine the location and type of job you want to apply for. For example, you want to work in area A as a mechanic in a motorbike repair shop.
- After that, open the Google Maps application by typing in the search column at the top then writing ” Motorcycle repair shop in A (location)“. After clicking the “search” menu, you will see several companies or workshop businesses whose income is displayed.
- Next, select one of the companies resulting from the search to open its profile page.
- After you select, you will see 5 lists of options, namely Summary, Services, Reviews, Photos, Latest Info and About. Please press the “Summary” to get the company contact provided.
- Finally, open your Whatsapp account then “add contact” if it turns out that the company number is connected to Whatsapp then you can contact them by speaking politely.
If it turns out that the company does not display a Whatsapp number but rather a personal number or a special company number such as (0411), you can contact it by calling directly via telephone instead of Whatsapp.
Second Way
- Open the Google Maps application then type in the area where you want the job location.
- Once the location has been found, the next step is to hold and slide the screen so that the location and address appear more clearly. Its function is so that you can find the names of shops and business companies at each location.
- Then, you just click on the name of a particular company that Google displays and like the first method, you open the “Summary” section to get a number you can contact.
This second tip can be used for those of you who are looking for work randomly, aka looking for work that roughly fits your criteria. Good job as shop attendant, helper, marketing, mechanic, cleaning service, laundry employee, motorbike wash and others.
Advantages and Disadvantages
The advantage you get if you apply the two methods above is that you directly talk to the company owner, so you are not fooled by fraudulent information such as certain vacancy groups and there are many chances of you getting a job.
In fact, after I contacted him and because it turned out that company A needed employees with the same criteria, that same day the company gave me the address and requirements that were met, such as bringing a job application letter and a schedule for an interview.
Even if the company is not looking for workers, many companies provide the opportunity to bring a cover letter to the office so that whenever you need a recruit, there are many opportunities for you to be called for an interview.
The drawback is that not all messages we send are immediately answered by the business owner. Some people reply immediately, wait a day or even get no reply at all.
Conclusion
Searching for work via Google Maps has many advantages compared to job vacancy information that is widely spread on social media which offers vacancies that cannot be 100% trusted, because there have been many cases of job vacancy fraud that have occurred recently. Therefore, if you want to look for job vacancies, you must use a safe and trusted application or website.
