What's Wrong with MNET? Why is it called Snake and Hated?
Mnet is one type of television station in South Korea, Mnet’s most famous program is its music award show called MAMA which usually airs every year in December.
In the past, this event was always broadcast on Indosiar live. Many Kpopers (as K-pop music lovers are called), are always enthusiastically waiting for their music awards.
In addition to award programs like this, they also broadcast music programs and other entertainment programs. And at the beginning of last September, Mnet drew a lot of attention from around the world, due to the background sound of one of its shows. Because of this, Mnet also earned the nickname, Mnet snake.
Why is Mnet called Snake?
There are several reasons why Mnet is called a snake. This has to do with cunning, injustice, and racism against other religions.
Here are some reasons why Mnet is called a snake:
- Using the Unfair Vote System at MAMA
The first time Mnet was hated was in 2022. In connection with the MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) event, Mnet is suspected of cheating on the vote calculation system, allegedly their method is unfair, even though in Korea it is included as the most prestigious nomination event. But if the system is not reliable, how can Mnet be liked?
- Unfair at Mnet Kingdom Event
Apart from that, on his other program, namely Mnet Kingdom, he again behaved unfairly to idols. The voting system, the number of streaming viewers (Mnet reduces the number of views), and facilities that are not balanced with the facilities of other boy/girl groups.
Like there are idols who are privileged, and not privileged. As one of the big TV stations in South Korea, they should work professionally, not be picky like that.
- Using the Adhan Remix Backsound at Street Woman Fighter Events
Not finished with these problems, now Mnet is making a very, very big mistake in the eyes of people around the world, especially Muslims.
At the Street Woman Fighter event, the backsound they used used musical instruments that were remixed in such a way, which if you listen more closely, it turns out that it’s not just an instrument, but the voice of a person who recites, “Allahuakbar” but is edited intermittently to the beat of the music.
This part starts to sound clear at 00:57 to 1:40 minutes. At first it sounds like ordinary music, but you try to listen to it again and again. At the end, there is a very clear pronunciation, namely “Huakbar”. When juxtaposed with the sound of the call to prayer, they have the same tone.

Because of this, many Muslims are angry, especially Indonesians. Many immediately invaded Mnet, they bully, get angry, and on Twitter it is trending with the hashtags: #MNETDisrespectAdzan #Adzan BukanMainan and #MnetApologize
As Muslims, we should not just ignore religion if insulted. Chanting the call to prayer in a song is an act that cannot be considered natural.
When the call to prayer is ringing we are not allowed to speak, we are told to stop doing activities, turn off the music, and ordered by Allah to listen to the chanting of the call to prayer solemnly. But instead, there are non-Muslims who play the Adhan by making it a remixed song. outrageous.
The End of the Mnet Problem that Remixed the Adhan
Regarding this issue, through his personal Instagram account, Mnet uploaded an apology.
On Mnet’s Instagram (@mnet_dance), they revealed that they did not know that the song remixed the Adhan voice. The sound is already listed as an electronic soundtrack on the streaming site, so the remix is not made by them. Mnet admitted to being wrong, and apologized to people for this ignorance.
