Homo Soloensis: History, Characteristics, Definition (Complete)

Homo Soloensis

Homo Soloensis is one type of ancient human species that ever existed. This type of human is called Homo Soloensis, Homo Soloensis certainly has differences with other types of homo.

Like Homo Sapiens and other types of homo. Moreover, every type of early humans did have differences that could be seen from the head, body, feet and hands.

So you can distinguish which ancient humans have the type of Homo Soloensis and which ancient humans are not included in Homo Soloensis.

With the differences in the organs of the body, of course, it can be used as a reference as a differentiator from one type of human to another.

Each type of ancient human has a different height between one homo to another. Want to know what it’s like? Understand below, yes!

What is Homo Soloensis?

The type of Homo Soloensis is one of the ancient humans who is often known as the human from solo. This type of Homo also has other names such as Homo Erectus Soloensis (homo e. soloensis).

Homo Soloensis

Many people say that this man from Solo lives around the Bengawan Solo river, to be precise in Solo. This ancient human from Solo did live in the Paleolithic era or commonly known as the Old Stone Age.

This ancient human species from Solo has also been threatened with extinction, so it is very difficult to find their whereabouts. This type of human has a kingdom called Animalia with a phylum called Chordata and can be said to be in a class called mammals.

In addition to the mammal class, this human species also belongs to the primate order with the suborder haplorrhini. In addition to orders and sub-orders, there is also a family with the name Hominidae.

This type of homo from Solo has a subfamily called homininae. If previously there was a subfamily, like humans usually do.

The type of Homo Soloensis also has a nation called hominini with the genus Homo and a species named Homo Erectus. This type of homo was once said to be a type of Homo sapiens. But this is different, this time the homo from Solo has been included in the Homo Erectus category.

This Homo originating from Solo has also experienced similarities to the Homo Neanderthalensis type. This type of homo Neanderthalensis usually lives in Asia, Africa and Europe.

There are some experts who say that the two types of homo do have similarities between one another. Perhaps it can be said that there are several organs of the two types of homo that have in common.

Characteristics of Homo Soloensis

  • The brain volume is about 1000 to 1200 cc
  • Have a height of about 130 – 210 cm
  • The skull is larger when compared to Pithecanthropus Erectus
  • The cerebellum of Homo soloensis is larger than the cerebellum in Pithecanthropus Erectus
  • The muscles in the neck are shrinking
  • The face does not protrude forward
  • The bulge on the forehead is slightly cut off in the middle (above the nose)
  • Can stand up straight and walk more perfectly

The following are the results of the culture found from Homo Soloensis:

  • Hand ax / Ax of perimbas
  • flake tool
  • Equipment made of bones

Types of Fossils Found

Types of Homo soloensis Fossils Found

On average, every ancient human who has ever lived must have different fossils starting from small to large forms. The average fossil from the Homo Soloensis species was found in Indonesia.

First – Tama there is one fossil found in Blora, which is like the skull of Homo Erectus Soloensis. Apart from Blora, there are also in several areas such as Sangiran, Connectmacan sub-district, to be precise in Sragen area, and Java Island.

There are several people who managed to find various fossils, namely Ter Haar, Oppenoorth and Gustav Heinrich Ralph Von Koenigswald. Precisely they found a variety of fossils can be estimated in 1931 to 1933.

At that time, it was still in the upper Pleistocene layer to the late Pleistocene layer. Gustav Heinrich Ralph Von Koenigswald found several fossils such as mammals, skulls, and several other ancient tools.

There are several layers that existed in ancient times such as the ngandong layer, which can be said to be the upper Pleistocene, the trinil layer can be called the middle layer and the Jetis layer is called the lower Pleistocene.

In the ngandong layer or what can be called the upper Pleistocene, various types of homo were found, such as Homo Soloensis and Homo Wajakensis.

While the second type of layer found Pithecanthropus Erectus. And in the last layer, Pithecanthropus Robustus, Homo Mojokertensis and Meganthropus Paleojavanicus were found.

That’s the explanation that I can convey this time about the type of Homo Soloensis. Hopefully the explanation above can add to your knowledge about the types of early humans. Have a good study!
