Before Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch Almost Played Malekith
Benedict Cumberbatch turned out to almost play the character Malekith, before finally becoming Doctor Strange. This fact immediately became a hot topic of discussion, especially among movie geeks.
When we hear the word Doctor Strange, the first thing that comes to our minds is Benedict Cumberbatch, because that character is deeply embedded in him.
He first played Stephen Strange in 2016, through his solo film Doctor Strange. After that, he often starred in a series of MCU film projects with the same role.
But who would have thought, the British actor actually almost played the character Malekith in the film Thor: The Dark World (2014) which was offered by Marvel Entertainment. This has also been confirmed directly by the actor.

“Actually, before I took on the role of Doctor Strange. I was offered to play another character in the MCU as Malekith in Thor: The Dark World,” said Benedict Cumberbatch.
Because he was deemed unsuitable, he refused the offer even though he was very honored to have the opportunity to work with Marvel Studios. Instead of Malekith, Benedict prefers to play the cooler Doctor Strange character.
“I remember very well when I said firmly I was very flattered by the offer, but I chose to play a cooler character,” he added.
His decision to reject Marvel’s offer for the role of Malekith was also considered very appropriate, because suddenly Marvel came back to Benedict to play a more interesting and suitable character for him.
The character in question is Stephen Strange, a surgeon who uses magic as Master of the Mystic Arts after a car accident that takes away most of his happiness.
“I was told again through representatives that they were interested in me filling a role. I kind of read the comics and said, ‘Oh my gosh!’” said Benedict Cumberbatch.

Although he was hesitant to play the character of Stephen Strange, Marvel immediately moved quickly to convince Benedict that the character was very suitable for him and not as bad as what he had thought.
“They said, ‘No, he’s going to be the man of today. Yes, with some of those qualities, but like a man today will have qualities where he thinks he can run a business,’ because he’s got to have that arrogance.” close Benedict.
