AESF Announces 8 Esports Games for the 2022 Asian Games

The Asian Esports Federation (AESF) announced eight esports events that are planned to be competed at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. These eight selected esports have previously passed selection criteria including Olympic Values ​​regulated by the AESF and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed by the Game Ratings and Administration Committee (GRAC), a professional and independent agency for game content rankings is conducting preparations for the AESF Road To Asian Games 2022 which is increasingly supported by professional advice related to the assessment for this prestigious title.

For your information, GRAC is a public organization that embodies the health culture of playing games and game industry developers in South Korea. Together with AESF, there are eight esports that will definitely be competed in the 2022 Asian Games. The following are the titles of games and esports that will be displayed:
1.Arena of Valor Asian Games Version
2.DOTA 2
3.Street Fighter V
4.Dream Three Kingdoms 2
5.EA SPORTS FIFA branded soccer games
6.HearthStone
7.League of Legends
8.PUBG Mobile Asian Games Version

Meanwhile, to support technology-based esports at the 2022 Asian Games. There are two more events that will be held at the competition in Huangzhou later, including:
1.AESF Robot Masters – Powered by Migu
2.AESF VR Sports – Powered by Migu

So with the presence of AESF Robot Masters and AESF VR Sports at the 2022 Asian Games, it is hoped that it will open up opportunities for the development and growth of esports at the global level. As we know that advances in Virtual Reality or VR technology and Robotics have contributed to influencing the interest of educational institutions in the world.

Several educational institutions in the world are starting to realize the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) which can bring growth that leads to positive trends through the esports ecosystem. So, it is hoped that by presenting these two platforms at the 2022 Asian Games, they can realize two hopes, namely entertainment and promoting technological sophistication through education.

Since 2022 the Asian Games has been the starting point and the first in the history of esports being competed on an international scale event where various countries have participated in this prestigious event. His debut that year was a new step for the esports industry around the world, including Indonesia.

AESF President, Kenneth Fok said he was happy for esports to be involved in the 2022 Asian Games. According to him, this news was not only important for him but also had an equally big role where AESF was able to be present to be one of the determinants in the selection of games to be competed later.

“I am happy to see this all coming together which brings us one step closer to seeing esports at the 2022 Asian Games. This news is not only important in contributing to the final preparations for the game, but also plays a huge role in ensuring that the AESF establishes and introduces the system esports events based on certain criteria and requirements to comply with Olympic Values. We look forward to launching a qualifying tournament and of course, a final soon,” said Kenneth Fok, quoted from AESF on Thursday (9/9).

This is of course also a shared hope that esports will become one of the sports that increasingly has its existence and presents new experiences and is able to have a social and economic impact on the world community.
