Xiaomi Phones Use Samsung's 108 MP Camera
Xiaomi recently announced their plans to release two smartphone models with camera sensors from Samsung.
As Dafunda Tekno quoted from the South China Morning Post, Xiaomi founder and President Lin Bin, through an event in Beijing, stated that the two phones are Xiaomi with 108 MP camera and Redmi with 64 MP camera.
It is certain that these two smartphones will use some of the technology made by Samsung, but Xiaomi has not provided detailed information regarding the smartphone model in question and when it will be marketed. Possibly, the Redmi model in question is the Redmi Note 8, because this phone will be launched soon.
This 108 megapixel camera sounds amazing, but it is not yet known how the shots from the camera are. Of course, a smartphone capable of taking photos from a resolution of 64 MP or 108 MP requires a powerful processor. Qualcomm has also previously said their chips are ready to support camera sensors over 100 MP and may launch this year.
Reasons for Cooperation between Xiaomi and Samsung
The collaboration between Xiaomi and Samsung comes at a time when the business performance of the two companies is declining in China. According to Canalys, the state of Xiaomi’s market share in China in the second quarter of 2022 was at 11.8%, and it decreased from the previous year’s period of 13.9%.
Meanwhile, Samsung, which was previously the king of mobile phones in China, is now only able to collect a market share of 0.7% with shipments of 700 thousand units. So that the giant smartphone company from South Korea began to cut its production to China.
