This is the Government's Plan to Block Black Market Mobile Phones in Indonesia
After successfully implementing the prepaid SIM card registration policy, now the government wants to stop selling illegal mobile phones or commonly known as (Black Market/BM) in Indonesia.
The reason is the result of the circulation of cellphones black market massively considered very detrimental to the state, even the impact also on distributors and users.

The mechanism of this blocking is to use the IMEI number listed on each different cell phone. The government will see which IMEI phones are not registered, then they are considered as illegal cellphones and can no longer be used in Indonesia.
The plan is currently being hotly discussed. There is an IMEI machine that is being developed by the Ministry of Industry and will reportedly start operating in August.
Now the question is, with this machine, all illegal cellphones in Indonesia really can’t be used anymore?

Through a statement from the Director of the Electronics and Telematics Industry of the Ministry of Industry, Janu Suryanto, said they are currently preparing regulations with related parties.
He also added that the regulation must of course be carried out and completed carefully to get the right target and no loss to any party.
When it comes to the technique that will be used, he said that blocking this illegal cell phone needs a deeper and detailed understanding. Because there are some complicated things that need to be understood such as semiconductors, problems hardware and software.
Is it true that illegal cell phone blocking is carried out in August?
Regarding the blocking carried out in August, Janu did not give a definite answer. However, he hopes to wait for the regulations that are being developed to be completed quickly.
As is known, the Ministry of Industry currently has a system for identifying illegal cell phone products, namely: Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS).
The system can be used to identify any International Mobile Equipment Identity number or what is usually called the IMEI number that already exists on every cellphone.
Later the action of blocking illegal cell phones will involve at least three parties, namely the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo), to the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).
