The Danger Behind the Old Face App's #AgeChallenge
The FaceApp application went viral a few years ago, and now this application is starting to be used by many smartphone users. Some even made a challenge through the hashtag #AgeChallenge, including Indonesians too.
FaceApp is an application that can change your face photo in several effects. One of the most preferred and widely used effects is that of an old or young face.
Although this application is very fun, users still have to be careful in using this application. Because the FaceApp application can spread, store and even sell the photo commercially even though it has been deleted.
Maybe it can be seen from the agreement and conditions using the FaceApp application. This section is indeed very rarely read by people and most smartphone users immediately press the button agree.
Seen in section user content, FaceApp says in the caption ‘You can own all content rights. Then FaceApp cannot claim ownership of user content uploaded through the service’.
Maybe from what you see above it seems as if the FaceApp application developer is protecting the content of the owner or user. But try to pay attention to the sentence “except for the license you give below” which is written at the beginning of the terms.
“You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid, license to reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works, distribute, publicly display, and display your content. by name, username or any other form provided in all media formats and channels, without compensation to you”.
“By using this service, you agree that user-owned content may be used for commercial purposes. You further acknowledge that FaceApp’s use of the content for commercial purposes will not injure you or anyone you authorize to act on its behalf.”
As Dafunda Tekno quoted from Apple Insiders So if you use the FaceApp application, it means that you fully give the rights to the photos that you produce through the application to the developer.
Then if you already have full rights to your photos, then FaceApp has the right to do it for their interests including distributing and using it for commercial needs. Without having to ask your permission again and provide compensation.
For those who have used the FaceApp application, do you feel strange while using the application? If you have, share your opinion in the comments column below.
