Seriously! 1,000+ Google Assistant Recordings Leaked
Currently privacy is considered very trivial. Some of the internet services have heard a lot of data leaks, including recently the service Google Assistant.
According to a report from a Belgian TV station VTR NWA, an Android device that has Google Assistant embedded is known to record the contents of conversations in the home of the handset owner.
Apart from that, a similar issue regarding leaks has also occurred in the Google Home smart speaker. Considering that Google’s smart assistant is also embedded in it, this speaker also manages to record the user’s voice secretly and can be heard by Google employees.
Recording in Google Assistant Leaks
‘VRT NWS also managed to hear more than 1,000 recorded quotes. A total of 153 quotes that should not have been recorded, where the user did not activate the ‘Ok Google’ command, said NWS VRT as Dafunda Tekno from Mashable.
As you need to know, as with Amazon’s Alexa, Google staff does have a duty to listen to recordings from Google Assistant and they are also paid. Then they are tasked with copying into a text.
This means that someone is listening to every request made to the user’s smart device or smartphone. However, this may not be what the user expects, where the recorded command is private and not heard by others.
So what are the leaked recordings? as heard by VTR NWS, there were several conversations including discussions in the bedroom (intimate matters), children’s and parents’ chats, to a series of songs and professional phone calls that contained personal information.
Google finally responded to this serious problem by confirming that it was true what was mentioned by the NWS VRT. However, the owner of this giant search engine is trying to straighten out that the messages recorded on the Google Assistant are stored and then transferred to Google for analysts to do.
In the conditions, it has been stated that any voice messages that have been spoken in Google Assistant will be recorded and then saved. But many people do not realize or do not care at all if Google employees are allowed to hear the contents of the recording.
So the Security and Privacy team stepped in on the matter. They are currently investigating and will take action. Hopefully cases like this don’t happen again in the future.
