Prices Go Up, Now Online Ojek Tariffs Have Regulations
The price war between Grab and Gojek in Indonesia is becoming increasingly unreasonable, forcing the Indonesian government to mediate so that unfair competition does not occur. Starting September 2, 2022, there is already a regulation for online motorcycle taxis in Indonesia regarding the price set.
The determination of the price of online motorcycle taxis is decided through the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number 348 of 2022 which regulates direct costs regulated by the Ministry of Transportation and indirect costs set by applicators (ojol application providers such as Gojek and Grab) with a maximum amount of 20% of the total direct costs.
Online Ojek Tariffs Are Divided Into 3 Zones In Indonesia

The Ministry of Transportation finally divided the price rates into 3 zones according to the regional division as follows:
- Zone I covers Sumatra, Java, Bali except Jabodetabek
Rates: IDR 1,850-2,300 per km with a minimum cost of IDR 7,000-10,000 - Zone II covers Jabodetabek
Rates: IDR 2,000-2,500 per km with a minimum cost of IDR 8,000-10,000 - Zone III includes Kalimantan, Sulawesi, NTT, Maluku, and others
Rates: IDR 2,100-2,600 with a minimum fee of IDR 7,000-10,000.
Actually, this price rate has been tested since May 1, 2022 in 8 cities. So, this price increase will not have much impact on cities that have become test cities (especially big cities).
Gojek itself has implemented new tariffs in 123 regencies/cities out of a total of 221 regencies/cities. This means that there are 98 cities/districts that feel the new tariffs. Meanwhile, Grab has also implemented it in 123 regencies/cities out of a total of 224 regencies/cities. This means that there are 101 cities/districts that feel the new tariffs.
For online motorcycle taxi drivers, this rate increase may have an impact on the decrease in the number of orders, but their income can increase because the motorcycle taxi rates increase. The Ministry of Transportation itself will supervise the application of tariffs in this ojol and will conduct a survey of the level of community satisfaction as evaluation material.
Wow, what do you think about the rising fare for online motorcycle taxis? Do you mind or not?
