Lockdown in India ends in disaster, Indian PM apologizes to the poor
It turns out that the policy to do lockdown a country in the current pandemic condition is not a good solution. We can see in the country that Dafunda Tekno is discussing this time, namely India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi must apologize to the poor people of India for the chaos caused by lockdown.
The steps taken by the government to prevent the spread of the corona virus have even triggered the misery of the poor. The lockdown carried out in India has lasted for three weeks which is considered unprepared. So the lockdown keeps many poor people in India’s big cities from finding work, thus starving them.
So that they in the thousands decided to return to their respective hometowns, and this is even more at risk of transmitting the corona virus outbreak. The chaos arose because the means of transportation were no longer operating. So some of them choose to walk hundreds of kilometers to return to their hometown.
India Lockdown, Prime Minister Modi apologizes to the poor

Modi has apologized to the Indian people for the trouble he has caused. He now realizes that the actions taken will make his name bad in society.
“First I want to apologize to all the people. The poor people will think what kind of prime minister this is, and instead get us in big trouble.” Modi said.
Based on the results of the Brookings think-tank report, of the total population of 1.3 billion in India. There are 73 million of them are poor people. Most of them criticized Modi’s decision, making them even more miserable.
The lockdown policy taken by the Indian government is widely criticized

Even the hashtag #ModiMadeDisaster was trending on Twitter India on Sunday 23/3. Death caused by going home is also unavoidable. On Saturday, a resident was killed by a truck while they were walking in Maharashtra state. A man on Saturday also died of exhaustion from walking 200 kilometers for homecoming.
Modi also emphasized that the lockdown measures were indeed needed to prevent the corona virus outbreak from continuing to spread. Currently, the corona virus has infected 1,024 people and killed 27 people in India.

“The steps taken so far have given India victory in the fight against coronavirus,” Modi said.
The government has announced an economic stimulus of USD 22.6 billion as a form of direct cash assistance or in the form of basic necessities for India’s poor.
However, according to economists, including the 2022 Nobel Economics winners, Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, this is not enough. They said the government needed to increase the amount of assistance for the residents in question.
“Otherwise, the crisis snowball will turn into an economic avalanche, and the people will have no choice but to rebel,” they said in an opinion piece in the Indian Express newspaper.
