#1. Use Smadav Anti-virus

An unreadable flash drive can also be caused by a hidden virus. Try using an antivirus that can remove viruses from the flash, such as Smadav.

  1. Previously, download the latest Smadav anti-virus software
  2. Install and run the software
  3. Enter flash to PC
  4. Smadav will automatically detect whether there is a virus in the flash or not. if there is then there will be an order to remove all the viruses

#2 Use Windows manually

  1. Insert the flash drive into the usb port of your PC or laptop
  2. Click Start and click Control Panel

To solve the flash error, you can follow the steps using the following HDDGuru application:

  1. insert the flash into your laptop
  2. Download the HDDGuru Low Level Format software and install as usual (only for Vista 7/8 users then “Run As Administrator”)
  3. Select your USB type then click Continue.
  4. After the low level format process is complete, you can format the flash as usual to return the flash to normal again

#4. Consult an expert technician

If the flash is damaged and cannot be read by a PC or laptop device, it should be consulted with an expert because it is feared that if you do things that are not necessarily correct, what will happen will be fatal, such as your flash which cannot be read permanently.

The tips, once a month you should routinely backup your flash drive. So when your flash drive has a problem, you still have the backup files so maybe you can buy a new flash drive and move all the files there.

#5 Use Command Prompt

  1. Insert the flash drive into your PC or Laptop
  2. Enter the command prompt by clicking start, run and typing cmd
  3. Click where you save your flash for example in H, type in the command prompt h:
  4. Then type chkdsk /f
  5. Type the letter Y
  6. Then there is an option to restart your PC. Just click Yes to restart. Let the process take place after winlogon.

#6 Via My Computer

  1. Right click on My Computer
  2. Click Computer Management
  3. A new tab will appear, then just click Disk Management.
  4. In the disk drive selection, right-click and click Change Drive Letter and Paths..
  5. A new tab will appear, more or less like change drive letter and paths for… then click Add.
  6. Set your driver type settings then click OK
