Tricks & Ways to Overcome Low Storage Space on Android
Trick 1: Delete Cache Files Manually
A cache file is a temporary file that is generated from various activities carried out on your smartphone. The point is to save some system data on the application so that if you access the application several times, the application access speed will be faster than when opening the application for the first time. Imagine how many applications you use? Or how many sites do you visit and result in cache files that accumulate on the system?
So, don’t hesitate! As soon as you can, you have to manually delete the cache to give space back to your Android’s internal storage.
- Enter menu Settings / Settings >> Apps (Applications) on your Android phone
- Then select the application that you often use, for example the Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook, Chrome, Games and so on.
- After that select “Clear Data / Clear Data”.
- A notification will appear “Delete Apps Data?” Select OK.
Clearing the cache will not delete the data in your application, so there is no need to worry. Do this cache file cleaning regularly as a way to deal with low storage space.
Trick 2: Delete SMS Message Files or Messages in Chat Applications
The files that occupy the most Android internal storage space besides of course photo and music files are message files. It’s trivial, but do you realize how many messages/chats you receive from SMS or chat applications like Whatsapp, LINE, FB messenger, etc.? In this trick, we don’t tell you to delete all existing chats/messages because there must be some chats/messages that are important to you. So, do the following tips to delete sms/chat files:
- Remove spam SMS, SMS like OTP etc. Now not many people use SMS, usually SMS that come in not far from spam SMS, fraudulent SMS, online loan SMS, etc. which would not hurt to be deleted.
- Delete group chats in the whatsapp/LINE application. Because group chats take up the most of your Android’s online storage space.
- Select some less important WhatsApp/LINE chats and delete them.
Trick 3: Don’t Activate & Immediately Turn Off Auto-Save Images in Chatting Applications
Well this is sometimes forgotten for some android users. Unknowingly, the auto-save media feature in chat applications like whatsapp & line makes your cellphone memory full quickly and makes your internet quota run out quickly, of course. So it would be nice to turn off the auto-save media feature, especially in group chats in the following way:
- Tap on the chat group profile or private chat room on your whatsapp buddy.
- On the menu Save To Camera Roll select never.
Trick 4: Set Storage of Camera Shots to SD Card
Every single photo shot from your smartphone camera has a size of 3-5 MB depending on the camera specifications, the better the camera specs, the larger the photo file size will be. So, make sure that the file storage of camera shots on your Android is set to the SD card in the following way:
- First open the application”Camera” on your smartphone buddy.
- Tap on “Gear Icon/Icon Settings“.
- Then look for the menu “Storage Location select/change to SD Card“.
- Finished.
Trick 5: Move Photo, Music and Video Files in Internal Memory to SD Card
Who knows, there are some image files, music, videos, photos and other files that are still stored on the internal memory after you set the storage to the SD card. So, make sure to move the photo, image, music and video files that are on the internal memory to an external one in the following way.
- Open the app”File Manager“Then select Internal Storage.
- Choose several folders that allegedly still store photos, music and videos such as camera, gallery, music, download, DCIM, etc. folders.
- If you find files that can be moved, tap on the file then select the option “Move (move)” or “Copy (copy)“.
- Navigate “Paste” to the storage folder on the sd card.
Trick 6: Delete Rarely Used & Unneeded Apps
Not all applications installed on your Android are often used, right? Maybe you first installed it because the application was hype, or there was a default application that was installed when you first bought a new cellphone. Sort the applications that you rarely use and don’t really need, then delete the application by:
- Open menu “Settings / Settings”.

Some well-known applications include CC Cleaner, clean master, Du battery saver, and many other applications.
Trick 8: Clear Offline Data On Some Apps
Now several online applications provide offline features that are intended so that users can still enjoy the content in the application offline or when they do not have access to the internet. Examples of some of the applications we mean are Youtube, Joox, Spotify, etc. These offline files are stored in your internal memory and fill the space. So it is wiser to delete those files to free up some space in the internal storage.
Trick 9 : Enlarge External Storage Space
