DKI Jakarta contingent that qualified for the 2021 PON XX Papua Esports Exhibition
GridGames.ID – First in history, electronic sports or what we often know as esports, will become an exhibition sport at PON XX Papua 2021.
This is the first time that esports will be competed at the National Sports Week (PON).
Esports itself was officially legalized as an official sport in Indonesia by KONI in August 2021.

The Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI) has determined four games to be competed between provinces, namely Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Free Fire, eFootball PES 2021, and PUBG Mobile.
In addition, there is also a friendly match, namely Lokapala which is a game made in Indonesia.

At the 2021 PON XX Papua Esports Exhibition, DKI Jakarta is the only province that delivers participants for all the games being contested.
“The esports industry in Indonesia is growing bigger and it is very appropriate that esports is legalized as an official sport in Indonesia so that it can become a level of achievement for esports athletes to take part in official championships between countries, such as the SEA Games and the Asian Games.
